Finds of the day!

Today, as I was walking to school, I found a few things:
a beer can with the tab intact!;a water bottle, and 3 beer bottle caps. I am sooooo thrilled to be working on junk projects. I am using five green (beer)glass bottles to create a lamp or ligthing fixture of some sort. I made a necklace last night out of some old jewelry parts on a unused new chain I had. pretty cool. yeah off to do more artsy stuff and such things. ttyl.

Junk Fashion #3

I know I already posted this picture but it is made from... melted vinyl records and some kinda recycled handyman's gear. made me think of prom and marie antionette...and duct tape. ooooooooh! I'm sorry I forgot about the duct tapeprom contest thing!hang on.here it is: http://www.duckbrand.com/Home/Promotions/stuck-at-prom.aspx. it happens every year and you can get a scholarship for making your own outfit but you have to be going with someone and they have to participate in the outfit making as well. they have to wear it and so do you.I believe it is like $5000 for college that you recieve if you win. check it out cuz this dress made me think of that contest. you'll see why.
I think this is a dress or an apron but it is made from bird seed bags! pretty cool.
this one is cool... it is made from plastic garbage bags!neat right?! :)
can't tell if this is a top or a dress but it is made from newspaper and a rubber kitchen mat! pretty awesome!
a dress made from red yogurt lids.
outfit made from beach balls. very katy perry or lady gaga-ish.

Junk Fashion #2...

another skateboard earring set. here's what it said on the site I got it off of:Green style is in, and trash has never looked better. so true!
this I found online!(http://onlinefast.org/wwutoday/features/7516) isn't that an amazing dress?!!!! reminds me of the duct tape prom contest... which I will post something above this about... they have some amazing things on their site...
yup says it all!
these are really cool. funky shapes and ecofriendly. made from plastic scraps that get recycled and put together into this. they could be used for lobby space or go great on the porch or in the garden!great way to decorate with seminatural looking furniture too.
trash can made from recycled paper.pretty cool for an office or home office space. well, as long as you don't throw away nasty stuff into it!might try weaving one of these!gotta learn how to weave a basket first!
more interesting bags made from our reuseful (yeah I made that word up!) trash of our everyday lives-potato chip bags. and prolly aluminum foil or something silver. Oooooooooo!oooooo...ooooooo.oooooo!!!!! meeeep rebounding everywhere! ok. these were made by the women of honduras for the fair trade project. If you do not know of the fair trade project, it is this thing where it's free trade between poor countries and not so poor countries and whatnot. and you can get catalogs of the items that the women...not the men, just the women as the men work or do other things there...make By Hand from scratch.they earn money and get the chance to eat and have pay and work and are more able to help thier own families especially thier precious and beautiful children. anywhere from africa and asia to south america. I will give you the name of the catalog thing in a moment after I find it...hang on a sec... before I give it to you, I wish to say this to any woman out there who reads this post: pleasepleaseplease support the fair trade project and free trade and continue to help woman and the world with your fashion and other aspects of your lives. ok now for the name of that catalog....hmmmmmmmm... actually the thing I know my family gets is called SERRV. http://www.serrv.org/default.aspx this is thier website and you can get their catalog like once or twice a year maybe seasonally like quarterly but you should look into their stuff. and the catalog will tell you what the product is where it was made if it was from Africa what it is made of and all that. very informative and has stories of women in certain areas. they have some really really nice stuff in the catalog. feel free to subscribe to the catalog. don't know a bout if you have to pay for it or not. sorry...i know this is long but I had to bring that up!
(for more info checkout the site:http://inhabitat.com/sustainable-style-travel-trash-paks-by-monsoon-vermont/)
more recycled trash stuff! man, I am totally enjoying seeing all this awesome stuff. anyways, this is made from...brb...lol...oh wow! ok this is a new one...waaaaaaaaaaaait for it.... detergent packs and toothpaste tubes! yup! thats what they were made from! totally gonna try this too!because its a different material than all teh rest. I bet they put plastic or an old bag on the inside though to keep it nice and fresh for you! pretty stylin'.oh. and they were made in java, japan for some reason. hmm. oh it says on the site that the materials were found by "slum dwelling scavengers" in jakarta which I believe is near java. another awesome way to help to save our beautiful and much needed planets resources. one of the things I said I would never be was an environmentalist. my oh my- how life laughs at us whenever we utter such silly words.
while I am not a huge fan of china sets or dishes or even this ugly necklace ( sorry red, but you aren't my favorite shade!), I think this is a great idea in case your china gets broken in a move or one of your kid(s) decided to break your grandma's best china piece in a tantrum fit by throwing it at the wall out of toddler anger or something. great idea for earrings cuz I saw some and it looked nice and classy. great for the classy and proper lady who wishes to look her best at work or to something fancy!
speaking of music and playing piano!...this is a piano string choker! how awesome. maybe Steinway and Sons Pianos isn't totally contributing to pollution!(they throw out the wood they don't use for the pianos they make-sad, so sad)plus this is probably the only good a broken or "dead" *sniffsniff* piano could do. if it's in really bad shape that is. I might be looking into buying this really crappy piano if I can get $25 dollars really soon. maybe if I buy it then I could make this necklace too!!!!yay! and WAHHHHHHHHHH for broken and dead pianos. (*fictional moment of silence for dead piano*lol)
wooooooooooohoooooooo! love them!great great use of music stuff to make this. part vinyl records, guitar strings, and other things. I do not know what the guitars or eighth notes are made with or of but these are really of special interest to me as I play( well played) the piano since I was seven. I haven't been playing since may of 2010 and I'm thinking it would help if I started again. It calms me down playing music. yeah, so if I start playing again, I have like 12 years of playing experience.I really want to teach beginners piano, any age is fine, you just have to know little to nothing about music or piano. preferably!btw, the swirly clef above on the earrings is called G clef otherwise known to musicians by its formal name treble clef. there is another one but its not as swirly or attractive. I like to think of treble clef as a woman and bass/ f clef as a man.
a steam-punk watch ring!really cool. if you don't get what that means, basically someone took old watch parts and like smashed them together (the word is prolly compressed! new vocab!) to make awesome jewelry. steam-punk is like when you take technology and like clockworks or engines or machines or parts and make cute jewelry out of it!so yeah. the computer parts stuff I have on here on the other post is prolly considered steam-punk.
this is a really awesome idea. lots of people are skaters or have or ride skateboards and I'm sure there are plenty of broken ones somewheres. now how does one go about taking one apart to make these? let me know if you have done anything like this before. I could use your help if you ahve. :) plus, this is the kinda think I'm going for.... punkprincess sorta stuff. well, trashy punkprincess because I am looking at all this cool up-cycle, steam-punk, and trash to treasure stuff. so I guess I am eco-friendly. No wonder my favorite color is green!(*sorry I may not be blonde but I was born a blond!slowness still lingers about sometimes....*) all this stuff is making my life so much better and happier!
too awesome! never would have come up with this idea on my own. very very appropriate for the medical and technological for the "age" we are in. although, I would think some people would want thier x-rays for personal records or something. I guess dead people don't need them though. if anyone knows how to get your hands on unwanted xrays, let me know. If this is illegal, then forget it. just think this maybe one of the awesomest ideas for upcycled awesomeness ever!
this is another cuff bracelet but its made with newspaper-the comics like the bag on the other post! this bracelet will be going with my comic strip outfit I guess. I had no idea comics were so in style now. well, there's a time for everything!
this was on some women's bag blog thing-Maggie's bags- and it is also made from bottle caps! pretty awesome that they are folded in half. it looks like this was made with gold safety pins or beads!I am so gonna try this armlet/cuff bracelet. I think I am going to lose room in my jewelry box for all of this stuff! and I will need to get my ears re-pierced to show off the lovely earrings I will be making from the beautiful trash I am going to get soon!!!!
she says they make stuff with recycled seatbelts! I plan to make a belt with cool stuff if I could get my hands on some recycled or broken seat-belt parts!!!! :)

a non-available picture I could not find should be in this space. lol

well, it was this really modern wine rack made from technology parts and it was all black and all circles. it could have been a wall sculpture instead!oh well...

Ok1 I just discovered this really cool website that has upcycled stuff on it! yeah for trash artistry!here it is: http://www.trunity.net/upcycling/galleries/view/140931/?topic=15932 enjoy! you have to like sign up for it though...eh.

As everyone I have seen so far about recycled and "up-cycled" jewelry and fashion is this undeniable truth- that one man's trash is another man's treasure!

check this article out if you are interested in where I got some of this stuff!(http://ecoble.com/2009/03/13/wearing-trash-10-recycled-jewelry-designs-that-demand-attention/)

there is tooo much cool stuff I'm finding so gonna have to make this at least a three long post deal... XD

Junk Fashion!

they say the best is always saved for last. well, this happens to be the best idea yet on her page I think.this is the perfect use for cartons that doesn't involve giving your mom a pen holder for mother's day!cute, sexy, simple, cheap!I think this will be the fashion bag of spring and summer 2011. Go green and go girl! work that eco-friendly style in you!
I have seen umbrellas made from these but not bags! pretty useful and creative. anyone could make this I am sure. I think I will get one of those umbrellas so I can match when I go out in the rain. mabye create some rainboots to match as well! gotta love other uses for newspapers! great to make once you are tired of sunday's paper.
headbands made from ribbon, chip bags and can tabs! another interesting and inventive thing to do with your trash. quite exquisite looking as well! great idea for the style forward woman!
this is another awesome thing on there that I actually was looking for a solution for. My mom always has altoids but we couldn't figure out what to make with them! I think I will make mine into cardholders for a friend who desperately needs some hip cardholers for her business cards! epic awesomeness as me and my sister would say!
that same girl makes magnetic tic tac toe games out of bottle tops and tiles it looks like. pretty inventive. never thought about tictactoe being magnetic. I think this is a great idea for Moms with young children!(the girl's blog thing is : http://trashtotreasure-dominguezfam.blogspot.com/) check it out!yay for REduce, REuse, and REcycle!!!! stay green cuz its the new black. yup. I said that.
these are awesome as well. found them on this one girl's blog site . pretty fantabulous! I think I will either buy one of these or make my own and use it as a decor lamp or something! apparently, I'm gonna need lots and lots of license plates and coke cans!!!!anyone tired of drinking yet??? just give me the empty stuff please!just remember not to chug too fast! you could puke. (seen it happen actually, as funny as it sounds.not pretty... so don't harm yourself!)
I have been noticing this came out in my eighth grade year when people started to be more concerned with the environment. while I do not immediately find them attractive then, I see thier purpose and beauty now. I plan to make one of these as well. but its not gonna be a purse. maybe a reusable grocery bag. sounds more awesome the bigger it gets in my head. lol.
I am planning on finding all the caps I can to make such earrings and also to make a necklace and a sculpture of a giraffe like the one that used to be in my local art museum. fun but no one just litters anymore it seems! so if you drink please litter but do not get caught! some artists need you to leave them in the dirt preferably thank you. and go home if you are really drunk. just saying. :)
another beautiful necklace you could make with tabs from beer and coke cans. :) I like the green rings on it!
a beautiful chain necklace made from an old bike tire! beautiful. I'm gonna try to make this or something like it and match it with the bike chain earrings!
a necklace to match all those tabs and can earrings! perfect and pretty. Lovin' all this fashion forward awesomeness!
yet another thing to make with soda cans. butterfly earrings! my favorite shape...
yet another thing to make out of my coke cans in the future!cute and stylin'! gotta love drinking coke.
Gonna need to eat a lot of Star-bursts for this! pretty cool! I have been thinking about doing this kind of thing since I was about 12 when we'd get those lollipops...uhm, ... dumdums. I may just do this with every kind of wrapper there is!

I saw these and was like " I have to make this!" It is so simple and very sophisticated. I like that this stuff all takes trash or everyday things we normally throw away and uses them to be jewelry and protect the environment.
this is awesome. something else I could make out of the dead computer!!!! :) meeeep.
I know this is not like fashion but this is my only craft blog so its not just gonna have fashion on here! I think this is a great thing to do especially since we are polluting stuff with things that aren't being reused and we should protect those super special moments. great idea! maybe I could use an old one no one wants....
i already had this idea to make earrings out of buttons and dangly.pretty cool though with the colors and all. :)
these were made by someone using a bike chain! pretty cool. think I will make my own... they look like mini phones!
I plan to make things that look like this if I can take apart our old computer!there are some pillows out there that I could make to match these.
this necklace I will attempt but I do not know if I can make this one look as good. We'll see.
this one will take a longer time to make due to absence of the zippers... but I will collect some and make into something that i hope will be beautiful as this necklace.
this may be a little harder to make than the rest due to sharp edges and having to clean off excess food or whatever. but this I plan to make as well.
this is a really cool student/young person jewelry idea! and i just broke one of my favorite #2's! how convienent! totally gonna make these.
Christmas light set.pretty cool. never thought of this. But I plan on making this because we have quite alot of these old lights.and I have access to old chains.

Well! whew! lots of ideas and projects for me to work on at home now!I have to go find all the materials for this stuff and take pictures of them and post them for everyone. I guarantee you that they will probably not look as awesome as this, but we never know until we try! SO hopefully I can make all of these things and make them just as fantabulous as these people made them. Enjoy reading and maybe this will inspire you or give you fashion ideas that you can use in your everyday life. Who says shopping has to be expensive or shiny? think about that!
